yap, even an 3.5 user can upgrade, that's what I heard !!!
A friend of mine (a 5.6 user) upgraded to 8.0, you know to 7.5 but he will get 8.0 when it comes out !!! :D

cool thanks guys.

thats exactly what i thought but wasn't sure.

I actually started using LW in version 5 but I don't want the hassle of installing 5 then 5.5 than 5.6 than 6.5 and then 7 and then 7.5 in case of a crash

i rather just do 5 to 7.5 and then 8 when it comes out.

Actually Chuck Baker sez:

Copies of 6.5 and earlier sold as new and unregistered after January 1, 2003, are not eligible for the $495US upgrade price. we've mentioned this fact on our recent announcement of the extension. The upgrade price in that instance is $1195US.

I've got a unopened 5.6 Alpha version that didn't qualify for the 495 price, fwiw.

[QUOTE]So you never registered you Lightwave copy ? WHY ? [QUOTE]

I have four seats already and wandered through the AXP/Alpha age long ago. Then I got busy at other studios and it became a nice bookend for a while. Alpha and X86 seats used to be exclusive to each other.

I'm basicly an optimist. I was waiting (too long) for the Alphas to make a comeback. I'm still waiting for 64 bit computing to make a comeback. ;)
