Turning off envelope?

In the Light and camera properties I want to turn off the envelope (graph editor). It greys out the option I want to use.

Hold the 'shift' key and click on the 'E' button again.

I'm not sure if that's in the manual or not. I'd look, but my huge ***** 7 manual has fallen apart from being read so many times.

While we're in the general support forum making feature request such as a remove envelope button.... How about a sprial bound manuals so that I can read all about using shift click to remove an envelope?;)

just had a quick scan in the manual, couldn't see it, but I do remember reading it somewhere, maybe it was in Dan's Inside LightWave 7 . . .
