Hi erikals. Thanks for the vid. They always put me thinking in stuff i wouldn't normally try.
Mega textures oh my... 16000x16000.... 256.000.000 pixels Are going to do a planet Zoom In shot? =) Sounds like a good way to do it =)

Only some points i would like to share with you.
-I personally would left the UV copy intact. And in Widht and Height Tile in the Texture Propeties i would set to Reset. So you can size the UV and move the image around without repeating.
-The bug you have layering the 2 textures isn't solved by switching to GLSL Shaders in Shading Method over Display GL options?
-I find easier to turn Ambient Light to 100% then Luminosity to 100%. Especially with more than one object. But you know that, i'm just telling for thos that don't :P
-LW uses images alpha channels normally. So to avoid having to do more layers you can just make the transparency in Photoshop.

Never heard of IFF, supose its TIFF daddy no? checking it out.

Cheers
