I'm importing an EPS and when I extrude I only get sides . . no face or back surface. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to do more to generate a front and back ?

Can you post a picture of what the logo looks like and what you are getting before and after the extrude?

I can't right now. Basically a hollow logo is what I get, there is no front or back.

Hi, i have had this in the past.
I think it is caused by edge fx in illustrator, so the polys are the outline..sort of..i am not very technical!
If i remember rightly, i imported the eps, copied to a new layer (or split it across lots of layers if its a complicated logo)
Killed the polys (shortcut K),
and the re-joined the dots to make a new poly and the extrude that.

Although I have just had a thought, are you extruding it on the right axis?
try extruding it the other way first.

hope this helps

Thanks . . .I'll try extruding forward instead of back on the Z.

Did you select the make closed option when importing the EPS?

Other possible things...

you have polys flipped
the eps logo has strokes in the logo (these will not show up in LW)
you have some large n-gons that are not displaying correctly

If it imports as a spline youll need to freeze it into a polygon using ctrl+d.
Splines by themselves will extrude as polys but leave only the sides.

I don't have Illustrator so sometimes I'll export paths from Photoshop to bring in to lw.

I usually put the spline in a background layer, make a plane in the foreground layer that is bigger than the spline in the background and then I do a Template Drill (shift-R) to slice up the poly. Select the polys that aren't a part of the logo and delete them.

If your logo has holes (like the center of an 'o') you'll want to cut those separately.

Also, when saving from Illustrator to use in LW, you need to save as an Illustrator 8 file.
