Square shaped spotlight?

Hi, i need a way to make a spotlight cast a square shaped shadow and a square shaped volumetric light.

One way is to put an object with a square shaped hole in front of the light and not to render the object?

I'm a beginner so any help is good!

Could you use the projection image settings for spotlights?

use spotlight and create a square mask "black and white " in photoshop , save as png , then apply the image to your light .

also works good for reflecting windows in surfaces ,FLOORS ect


also theres a pulggin on flay somewhere that lets you control the variables of the spotlight with more preccision
