I have a scene that I would like to build where a rushing river (that looks kind of like the rapids that you would go "riding the rapids" on) washes out a bridge between two very steep sides. Would I go about that using particles or a displacement map? I would like to have the water really foamy and don't know where to start...except on the stuff I know how to build. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
I would use a combination of displacement mapping and hypervoxels. For photoreal results you're better of using software like RealFlow.
Just some brainstorming here:
Displace the river object, use hypervoxels for the foam effect and add extra particles/hypervoxels for the splashes all around. You should play around with the tools at hand.

Thank you Rove. I appreciate the suggestion - I will try that out. I don't have realflow, so I'll have to make do with LW as it is and hope for the best.
