cant drag wmv clip to timeline on speed edit

I have some windows media clips that play fine on windows media player..when I try to drag into the time line of speed edit, it wont allow it.
what might I be doing wrong?

SpeedEDIT does not support import of WMV files.

There is a work around. Change the extension name from .wav to .avi and try again. Some wmv file can work this way but some don't. It is unsupported.

it plays in the ddr's when in live mode...
recorded it to a ddr then went back into speed edit and it would import...
bit of a pain bit it works ....
