Hi Guys,

Just been messing around with the material nodes, and I was wondering if there was any way of influencing the colour highlight/specular shading on the Conductor/Delta node?

I have a red material which is a plastic, I'm using the Delta node for it but the highlights keep coming out white and I wanted to tone them down - am I being daft here??? :-/

Is it just a simple case of changing the colour of the stuff that's causing the highlight eg HDRI map or Light source?

The scene I've setup works great for white surfaces but as soon as a colour is added to the surface the highlights look wrong.

On way around it would be to use one of the third party splitter nodes (check my sig for the free db&w Tools which contain one), split up the shading of the material, colour correct the specular and merge it again.

In this case you should probably also insert a cache node right after the initial material node to speed up things.

Cheers,
Mike

The db&w Tools collection is always on sale, it's free ;)

You're right though, they're 30% off now as well... which means they still cost nothing :hey:
Hey Mike, are you going to siggraph?
I wish... the closest we'll be getting this year is offering a Siggraph special ;)

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks guys, I'll check out the db&w tools option as I have no budget for expensive additions.

Lightwolf do you write the tools yourself?

Yup... and occasionally I actually get to use them in production as well ;)
