I'm running VT4.6. Is it possible to limit audio peaks in the editing process?

Thanks,
Randy

The audio effect called compressor. It is a soft knee compressor.

Place it under your audio track that you want to compress and adjust it accordingly.

there's a compressor built in? How do I access it?

Same way you use any other effect in VT.

You take it from the effects folder and put it on the timeline under what you want it to affect.

I never saw a compressor in the effects folder. I must be missing something. Would you mind telling me (step by step) how you get to that folder? thanks.

When you install SpeedEDIT it creates a bunch of tabs in the "add media" window.

Pick the tab on the bottom called "Effects".

That opens the Effects folder. In that folder is a folder called "Audio Effects".

Open that folder. In there is an effect called CompExpand.

Put that on your timeline under what you want to compress and adjust it in the control tree.

I don't have SpeedEDIT. My version (4.6) came with VT-Edit.

Oh, sorry. Well, good news is the compressor is in VT-EDIT as well. But someone else will have to tell you where it is, I don't remember back that far, and I haven't had VT on my machine in years.
