Is there a problem with lightwave 7 and os x when I am in modeler and I do a series of move, rotate, and stretch. I will always get a crash. I am using a G4 1.25ghz with 1gb ram and it will make my processor menu bar max out on these simple operations

Do you have a Radeon card, and are you running 7.5c? This is a known issue with this combination of HW/SW.
For just LW7, I can't tell you. I skip full point upgrades for the x.5 patch that runs a bit better. - Sorry -

You might try this, it may or may not work for you:
Latest ATI Drivers (http://www.ati.com/support/products/mac/radeon9800/osx/radeon9800maceditionosxdrivers.html)
no guarantees, but it's the latest batch of radeon drivers, so it may or may not help.

upgrade to 7.5 on OSX...it's free.
also, there are known issues with the ATI drivers under 10.2.6 (so if you're using 10.2.4, stick with it until the issues is resolved).
This is beyond the joke now....
Yetr noone takes responsibility nor willing to acknowledge it.

If you have been keeping up with the various threads that cross into this issue, you know that NT has posted that they have contacted ATI about the issue, and Apple, and Apple had contacted ATI about the issue.
If you know anything about the painful truth of software development, it can take many long months to squash some bugs, delaying scheduled releases.

Yeah I know all about some software development. I just hate the dreaded crash. LW is the only software that crashes my machine, as a matter of fact the only time it has ever crashed

Ok--Lightwave brings down your whole machine? That's not right, so something else is going on. I have software that crashes fairly regularly (Flash MX is my current favorite, at 2-3 crashes a day) but nothing brings the system down...

Mlinde... i thought the ATi/modeler bug caused a complete freeze
requiring a restart?(i would not know..i love n'videa=)

I didn't realize (maybe I'm just a bit thick-headed) that the ATI bug was a system level crash (I thought it crashed Modeler, that's what 7.5c did with my little iBook).
As for the error log above, check out this link:

Oh boy.. If it was only that!
No no no.. It's much worse.. indeed this famous bug brings down the entire system like a good old fashioned OS 9 crash!
Restart is the only option,.. and it takes about 3 or 4 minutes or longer on my Powerbook 1 Ghz.. because of the diskscanning thing.. (grey screen with apple logo is there a heck of a long time!)
actually now I'm without modeler! I don't want to go back to 10.2.4!! I just have installed FCP 4! and that cannot run on that system!
Newtek or Apple or ATI or ALL of them should fix this real soon!!
