View Full Version : Multiple Sources on LiveSets

So, still playing around and learning the details of my TC Broadcast. I am wondering with LiveSets if there is a way to bring in multiple sources into the LiveSet monitors. For example, in the SkyBox set that comes withthe system, there are three hanging monitors in the set. Can I make one monitor play a video loop from the DDR,and the others play external sources? The documentation seems to indicate that only one source may be used, but I'd like to make sure.

Thanks,

Zach

LiveSet can have four inputs. FX, Live, Preview and DSK. You just need to have the set designed to have them.

Just to mention it, though, the current LW LiveSet compiler only directly supports two inputs. (To add more, you'll need Aura.)

Got it. It would seem that Aura cannot be purchased separately (according to my searching on this topic). If I wanted to manipulate a pre-loaded LiveSet for my diabolical purposes, I would need to go through on of the many talented folks who frequent this community to be my henchma... I mean, consultant, correct?

Heheheh - assuming you don't have access to a VT, a standalone copy of Aura (someone mentioned having a couple the other day), or want to buy a used VT - yep. :D

Hi
yes all the stock sets only allow one virtual monitor input through the effects row.
this can only be accomplished by creating a custom liveset using the aura liveset plugin, since that allows you to create inputs for the preview buss and DSK imbedded in the set. the lightwave plugin only allows creation of sets with one virtual monitor. or many showing the same input. unfortunately the only way to get aura is to buy video toaster. hopefully one day newtek will make it easier. I wish they would just create a photoshop plugin.. it would help tricaster users everywhere get the most out of the liveset system.

the lightwave plugin only allows creation of sets with one virtual monitor. or many showing the same input. It has occurred to me that you might be able to work around this, even without Aura. For example, if you prepared a clip with a quad video matrix, then mapped it correctly to four polys, you could fake four DDR feeds (assuming the monitors were small enough that the 1/4 res didn't give the trick away.).

i see the questions already been answered. you guys are awesome, by the way, i've learned a lot from both of you on this forum.. thanks for being so helpful and generous.

Yes this works and depending on what is being displayed (like CCTV monitors in a security control room) you could do more than a quad. You can also do this with out a quad but just not live by making a video file with the multiplexed inputs. EditMedia should be able to handle this no problem but not live. Live needs a hardware multiplexer.

If you look in the LiveSet section of forum, a long time ago I posted a test set that does exactly that if you want to try it (splitting the video plane).

Take care,

I would rather an After Effects plug-in so that multiple shots could be made like in Aura. PS would limit us to one shot at a time as even though PS has animation features, it is not what most of us would use for animation.
That said, I would gladly welcome a PS plug-in :)

I know this has been gone through before, but since it's been brought back up... Will the current aura live set plug in work with the current TV Paint?

Perhaps there's an easier question to answer. I have a client who simply wants to change, and/or perhaps use a live source in a double box effect. Obviously the LW plug in will work, but I fear the learning curve for this client. Also: Will the current LW plug in work with 7.5. The client has a TriCaster, not a VT, and No Aura, or LW.

Thanks for you time guys.

I don't know but it does not 100% work in Mirage so who knows.....

I have a lightly-used spare VT card and a new copy of the VT[4] software that includes Aura that I can sell at a very reasonable price . . . .

Ditto (except it's VT[5] software with mine) ... in case anyone is interested.
