Sorry guys... false alarm. The benchmarks I'd posted from Blanos.com seem to be unreliable and for a model of machine that does not exist.

We'll have to wait 'till the real benchmarks come out... and maybe get them from a more reliable source than Blanos.

Sadly those benchmarks were faked!

But those are the kinda speeds I'm hoping to see from the dual G5. Unfortunately we will have to wait for real benchmarks.

Certainly makes the Mac community look like desperate wankers..

But as has been pointed out, it's very simple to post anything to a benchmark site; even screen captures of render times can be faked.

Whose benchmarks ARE unimpeachably accuate and honest...free of bias..truly reflective of which box got a job done in less time?

Actually this sort of thing has happened in the past, and Chris is pretty good at spotting fakes and removing them. I'm sure some fakes are easier to catch than others, but usually there are several entries for similarly configured machines so it's not difficult to spot a fake.
