Can I somehow reduce the subdivision level of a nurbed object in modeler, if i've subdivided it a few times with a metaformed subdivision? I accidentally subdivided it twice and saved it, so now it's WAY high poly.
go to General Options and reduce the "patch divisions"
In Layout in the properties panel you can again set the subD level to any value.

Metaform is evil... :D,
There's no way to get it back, it's like when you freeze SubPatches, they get converted to regular polys.

Well you can use a reduce polygon plug-in. I Think it's called GemLoss2. There's also version 3. I don't really have that good
of an understanding on how to used them as yet, But if you play
around with it you can probably figure it out. Go to www.flay.com
and search for it. You Can probably find the manual there as well.

Well i kinda misspelled the plug-in name. It's "Qemloss".
My fault.

ack!!! argggg... there isn't a really good way to get back....
Qemloss is not really a reasonable option in that it usually mangles a lot of polys, and really only works on the polygons, not the NURBScages.... IE every thing will go to heck...(!)
I usually take a bit of a philosophical stand at times like this... "I can model it better and in half the time..."
Save early, save often....

That's where autosave comes in handy - look in the temp folder for your computer and you may have a saved version prior to subdividing your object. You did turn it on right??

If it's some Windows NT try
<system drive>:\documents and settings\<your user>\local settings\temp\lwhub\
and you'll find a lot of old stuff :D
(hope i translated the path correctly...)
-edit-
oh and you need to enable displaying hidden files and folders in explorer, or you won't find it ;)
